Are you a Firefox user? Apparently, if you are you’re not alone. Sometime this year when I wasn’t paying attention Firefox rocketed to a new high. For over three years I watched as Firefox hovered between a 30 to 34% browser share. This month I was surprised to see that Firefox consistently exceeds 40% and is preparing to take over IE as the most popular browser.

The sleuths over at Engadget have apparently uncovered an internal memo from Best Buy outlining plans for Windows 7 upgrades beginning in late June. This goes along with information from Microsoft describing the Technology Guarantee or Windows 7 Upgrade program, as it has been called lately.

Friends, it’s great to be here at the retirement party for Windows XP. As you all know, he’ll be leaving his full-time job at Microsoft as of the end of June. Just like Bill Gates, it won’t be an abrupt break with the company. You’ll see XP wandering the halls for a few years to come. Keep your guard up; when you least expect it you’ll be hit by an XP practical joke. Just last week I noticed he tried to hide file extensions for known file types.

THIS WEEK’S HOT MICROSOFT STORY:
Windows PC users are reacting to the news that beginning in June…
…Microsoft is going come over to your house and beat you with a stick if you don’t start using their new (but horribly slow and flawed) operating system called Windows Vista.
And this is no joke:
Because after Microsoft REFUSES TO ALLOW COMPANIES TO SELL COMPUTERS WITH WINDOWS XP INSTALLED in June…
…they’re going to stop SUPPORTING the copy of Windows XP you have on your EXISTING computer on April 14, 2009, just a year from now.
