Having worked in a production environment with writers and editors printing to both laser printers AND their own personal ink jet printers that laser printing saved us thousands of dollars per year.

And I also base this on my own personal use of a laser printer in my home, of which I haven't changed the toner cartridge in over a year despite having two young kids that seem to print everything they can.

I agree with Ken. I recently purchased a new Dell laser printer thinking it would be more economical than my existing HP Officejet. Wrong!! Now I am stuck with an expensive paperweight that no one seems to want to buy, and I have lost several hundreds of dollars.

I have to disagree; having both laser and inkjet printers, I can say the cost of printing per page is no longer the savings it was a decade ago. Ink Jet costs have come down, laser costs have remained the same or gone up - so it is actually more expensive for me to use my laser printer than my ink jet. Did you do any actual price point comparisons, or did you just buy into the assumption most people have, without using any actual evidence?
