All you have to do is wait for about a month or two to see what others say about Win 7 and then decide whether to buy it or not, easy stuff if you ask me.

I really do not understand what all the fuzz is about. I have used all Windows operating systems since 3.11. I run my present machine with Vista Ultimate and I have also tried Windows 7 Beta and Windows 7 RC and, yes, I have also installed IE8. I have not had significant problems with any of them. I think, Microsoft should be congratulated to bring out a complicated operating system like Windows 7 Beta with so few bugs. I have written computer programs myself and I cannot remember a single one which originally did not have bugs in it.
I wonder whether I am just blessed or whether the complainers are somewhat unreasonable.
Sure, I would like to see some features implemented differently. I sometimes question Microsoft's philosophy of trying to be all things to all people. But can you really argue with their success?

i dont know much about windows 7 but if its anything at all like vista i dont think i want to know vista is the most unuserfriendly os i have ever seen i would go back to win 95 before i would use vista. my friends and family come to me when they have problems but lately some of them have gotten new coms with vista on them. i have stopped working on anything with vista and therefore i am losing my hero status with my friends and family. i have been totally happy with xp and i say if it aint broke dont fix it. i have no desire to buy a new os it appears to me that ms is just throwing stuff together to make new operating systems and trying to force us to upgrade to them. new does not mean better vista is proof of that. i have heard rumors that ms is going to discontinue support for xp if they do i think ill just throw all ms products in the trash and try something else

I've run XP Pro now for several years and it has worked reliabley....never did try Vista largely because of all the negatives associated with it, let alone the cost.

I like Linux, Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64, but I have some serious applications problems with it and I cannot find a suitable driver series for my Brother All-in-One printer/scanner/copier.

(FYI: W7 RC1 detected the Brother device and loaded Microsoft drivers that all worked.)

So, exploiting the MS offer of half-price-for-upgrades, I'll upgrade XP to W7 Pro, run my apps in XP Mode and dual-boot to Linux.

I don't now, nor have I ever had, any issue with Microsoft and the prices it charges for its products. If the company is so bad and its products so poor, why does it enjoy nearly 90 percent of the PC software market worldwide?

Got a new laptop about a month too early to take advantage of the free upgrade. I tried about 20 times to load XP on it, but failed. Tried all sorts of things, but something just isn't letting me do it. So, I tried Win 7 RC, and decided it's worth $50 to get Vista off my new computer. The wireless connection is quick and doesn't nag me like XP did. I don't use MSIE, so I don't know if IE8 is any good. Tried WIBU, and it works quite well, but I haven't had time to really set up anything beyond the initial setup.

I cant beleive M/soft want to sell us the new windows 7 after the rubbish vista o/s I have had nothing but trouble with vista for the last two years, its been a complete ripoff and is nowhere near as good as xp which I never had any problems with at all. Come on Microsoft give us a free update to windows 7, you owe it to us. I for one will be getting a Mac if you don't give us recompense for the crap you sold me last time.

I say if Windows 7 fixes the conectivity problems and vidio driver problems I have been having for the last 2 year, then bring it on and I will shell out the cost. I have a quad 4 processer screaming machine I built running in 32 bit mode. The vidio card I have is top end but the system crashes at higher resolution. Vista ultimate is cripling my machine. If windows 7 doesn't fix some of these problems I am wiping the system and switching to Mac.
