Chris, you're trying so hard to be techy-geeky you're shorting us on useful information. Why not drop a little of the 'tude and add more info.? Take the viewpoint of your viewer. What information do they need to understand the point you're trying to make? You appear to be approaching things from the opposite direction.

  2. Greg Moffatt Says:

Why do you need two computers? Though your KVM looks quite good – how does it cope with the load mine had – two servers and two workstations? Be like me – just work on one machine and use a USB drive for the notebook when you take it out.

I'm using a Belkin KVM hooked up to two desktops. With a push of a button I can view and work on either PC. I occasionally do a lot of intensive crunching (video conversion, etc.) on one machine and while it is working, switch over to the other machine for games, email, homework, etc. Works very well. I have the one 21" Trinitron shared between the two systems.

well what can i say chriss, went the wrong way to tell people about this, personally with my two pcs i network them and pass files between them with ease,i see how this would be an advantage to certain people but that amount of people i beleive would be small not all the general public would need to pcs never mind a pc that is without a mouse, keyboard and moniter personally i would use my tv as most are capable of taking a vga connection and with graphics cards coming with the choice of vga and hdmi and in some cards s-vid the idea of watching my videos on a small laptop before my tv wouldnt even enter my mind and like gregg said unless its capable of huge tasks and loads then its not realy any good for me.

This is a good tool for technicians and networking. I use a 4 ports KVM only for repair purposes, and is an excellent tool to save space in my working area.

  6. Trudy Hutzler Says:

I have my regular laptop at my desk, as well as a desktop that runs a program that needs to run on a dedicated computer. I need to access it repeatedly during the course of the day so I have connected that desktop and the port replicator for my laptop to a Belkin KVM switch. I also have a second monitor connected to my port replicator to give me a second screen.

By connecting the KVM to my port replicator I can view the second system on my second screen and still have access to everything on my laptop from the laptop screen at the same time. This allows me to work on both systems at the same time. This has been a HUGE time saver for me. I connect to all our other systems over the network and find connecting with the KVM much more efficient.
